The official Colosseum ticket (€18) also includes the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill: the three sites form a single archaeological complex. The ticket is valid for 24 hours and allows one entry to each site, so you can see the Colosseum one day and the Forum and the Palatine the following morning.
The gladiators' Arena and the underground (hypogeum) are not included in the basic ticket: they require a special ticket or a guided tour with Arena access, with limited places that sell out fast.

The ticket costs €18 and includes the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill, valid for 24 hours with one entry to each site. On Civitatis, tickets with audio guide and skip-the-line access start from €26, the guided tour from €59 and the tour with access to the gladiators' Arena from €65.25. The Arena and the underground are not included in the basic ticket.
In 2026 the Colosseum opens every day: from 29 March to 30 September from 08:30 to 19:15; from 1 to 24 October until 18:30; and from 25 October to 28 February until 16:30. It is closed on 25 December and 1 January. Last admission is one hour before closing.
Yes, but not with the basic ticket. Access to the gladiators' Arena and to the underground (hypogeum) requires a special ticket or a specific guided tour, with limited places that sell out weeks in advance. The safest way to step onto the Arena is the guided tour with Arena access.
Admission is free on the first Sunday of every month and on certain special dates (25 April, 2 June and 4 November). On those days you cannot book online, so you have to queue in person, and the Arena and the underground remain closed. More about free admission →
